About Us
We publish a free, modern browser version of Reversi (Othello) — the classic disc-flipping strategy game — with a computer opponent, three difficulty levels, hints, and a layout that works on any screen.
Our craft
One board. Total control.
Flip the line, hold the corners, finish with more discs. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make
reversigame.app is the site behind our version of Reversi. The product is a single-player strategy game against a computer opponent: place a disc so that it traps and flips one or more of the opponent's discs, and finish with more discs on the board than your opponent to win.
We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Wins, losses, ties, best margin, and streaks live in local browser storage on your device.
If you are comparing this to another Reversi or Othello site, this page only speaks for reversigame.app. The rules and difficulty levels described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
Few classic board games have a more contested history than Reversi. We treat that history as a responsibility to get the rules exactly right and the friction as close to zero as we can.
Reversi was first documented in England in the early 1880s. Two English games enthusiasts, Lewis Waterman and John Mollett, both claimed to have invented it, and the dispute was never definitively settled — an unusually contested origin for a board game this old.
In 1971, Japanese businessman Goro Hasegawa trademarked a refined version of the same core game under the name Othello, standardising the 8x8 board and rules and marketing it worldwide. For many players since, "Othello" and "Reversi" describe the same game.
reversigame.app is an independent, modern implementation of that same ruleset. The rules are unchanged; what is new is a computer opponent with three real difficulty levels, a smooth flip animation, synthesized sound with a real mute, and quality-of-life tools — hints, legal-move highlighting, unlimited undo — built for a phone as much as a desktop.
What we stand for
Open the page and a board is already set up. No account wall, no download, no splash video — you are placing discs before you finish reading this sentence.
Choose Black or White, choose Easy, Normal, or Hard, and unlimited undo. Nothing is gated behind a "pro" toggle and nothing nags you to install an app.
Wins, losses, ties, best margin, and win streak per difficulty live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.
The whole game is free forever. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between matches, no surprise paywall on the hint button.
Who it is for
reversigame.app is a family-friendly, single-player game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want online multiplayer or live events; a good fit if you want the real game of Reversi, exactly as you remember it, on whatever screen is nearby.
A match takes five to fifteen minutes. Reversi is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks, not a long campaign.
There is no clock forcing a move and nothing to react to. The entire challenge is reading the board and thinking a few moves ahead.
Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.
Why this site
Reversi has plenty of implementations online, many of them stuck on outdated tech. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast version — correct rules, a real computer opponent, and no clutter.
Easy, Normal, and Hard are genuinely different opponents — not the same logic with a coin-flip toggle — so the challenge scales as you improve.
Unlimited undo, a hint that points at a strong move using the same evaluation the computer uses, and every legal square marked so you never have to guess.
No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact engine, not a generic write-up.
How we build
The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, tap or click controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.
Phone, tablet, and desktop share one board. Tap on a touchscreen, click with a mouse, or use the keyboard shortcuts for undo, hint, and a new match.
Wins, losses, ties, best margin, fastest win, and streak per difficulty are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
